Campbell UMC-mail for June 26th (Updated)

Thursday, June 26, 2008 by campbellumc

Campbell UMC-Mail for June 25, 2008

Sunday Worship, June 29th.

This Sunday we will welcome our new Pastor, Reverend Andy Bryan.  There will only be ONE service, at 9:30 a.m. and we want to fill the church for this celebration.  The Youth Praise Band will open with music at 9:15 a.m.

Andy will be talking about  “A Cup of Cold Water.”  The scripture is from Matthew 10:1-7, 40-42.

There will be NO Adult or Youth Sunday School!

Children will meet in the gym for Sunday School – please arrive early, you will be able to drop your child in the gym or nursery at 9:10 a.m.  That way you can get your children settled and then be seated in the Sanctuary before the worship service starts at 9:30.

Please carpool to insure we have enough parking available!

And…lastly, please wear your name tag.  Contact Peggy Thomas (881-2018 or email: pthomas@campbellumc.org) if you need a nametag and she will endeavor to get one made before Sunday!  Some blank nametags and markers will be available at the information desk near the front entrance on Sunday for those who do not have one.

Condolences.

Our condolences go out to the family of Murl Orr who passed away on Tuesday, June 24th.  There will be a memorial service at Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel on Saturday, June 28th @ 11:00 a.m..  There is no visitation.  You can read about her life at the Springfield News-Leader website – click here.

Pastor’s Note.

Jay Guffey, Campbell UMC’s Lay Leader and Ben Stringer, chairperson of Church Council gave our message this past Sunday and what a blessing we all experienced. Thank you Jay and Ben for being men who are seeking after God’s heart as individuals and leaders of our congregation.

Jay and Ben challenged us to live out our membership vows. Bringing God our prayers, presence, gifts and service to God through Campbell UMC. Not only keeping our vows, but living out our vows so God may “transfigure” us as individuals and as a Church.

Thank you Jay and Ben for your leadership on Sunday and all year long.

We have been talking a lot about Sunday, June 29th and the day is here! We will have one worship service at 9:30 a.m. with fellowship and a meal following at 11:00 a.m. We  will gather together as a church family to celebrate and welcome Andy and Erin Bryan and their children to Campbell UMC.

I cannot find the words to express the appreciation I feel to staff and volunteers for all the work that has gone into this upcoming Sunday morning. From counting out pew space to parking lot spaces, planning children’s games and flow charts for serving lines for lunch this coming Sunday has been a team effort. It is wonderful to work with such an incredible group of staff and lay leadership.

Now it is up to all of us to share rides, make room in the pew and bring cupcakes for the cake walk. This coming Sunday will be a great day of fellowship and fun. See you in worship at 9:30 a.m.

In Christ, Melissa Dodd

Automate your giving!  Have you ever thought about making your weekly / monthly offering as painless as possible?  Why go to the trouble of writing a check each week when you can donate to the church each week without having to think each about it!  By having your offering sent automatically you help the church also.  It assures an even flow of money throughout the year and you can be assured your offerings will get to the church even if you are not able to make it.  There are two ways you can do this.  Contact Misty Brown (881-2018 or mbrown@campbellumc.org) for more information.
