Worship for August 17th
This Sunday Melissa Dodd will be giving the message, “What a Strange Question!” The scripture is from John 5:1-7. The question asked by Jesus in that passage is: “Would you like to get well?” Join Melissa as she provides us insight into the answer to that question.
As I pour over books about Church history in the library this Monday afternoon, I realize how yesterday’s worship service ties to Church history. You may not have been able to hear Eric Papp, a Campbell college student share his joy in bringing God glory. I will not be able to do justice to the passion Eric has for serving God with his life. However, my point is – it is good to know that our Church (worldwide) in still strong with young men like Eric desiring to serve God with everything. When I was 21, I was struggling to accept God’s grace with little understanding of serving God with everything. You could say, I think Eric has a jump start on his journey with God and that tells me what God is going to do through the church is not just in these history books.
Speaking of journey, we will be starting a new journey on Sunday, August 24 as we travel through Exodus during Sunday worship. Pastor Andy and I will be following the Israelites on their journey to the Promise Land. I hope you can strap on your backpack and take the walk with us over the next several months.
However, before we put on our hiking books, we will stop at the Sheep Gate in Jerusalem from John 5. Jesus asked a man a strange question and I believe we are asking the same question today. How do we respond?
Come Sunday morning and join us in worship. Blessings, Melissa
