This past Sunday was a treat! Melissa talked about the Game of Life (her sermon is on the CamBlog under ‘sermons’) and asked us to reflect on our personal life choices.
We baptized Fintan Christopher Chayer with assistance from his parents, Dustin and Bridget Chayer. He smiled the whole time at Andy and was genuinely happy to be joining the family of God!
Finally, did you know that was the very 1st picture of baby Martin Louis Schmalzbauer on the screen? He was born on September 9th to John and Susan.
Worship for September 21st.
This Sunday is “Bring a Friend” Sunday! Don’t hesitate to invite a friend, neighbor or co-worker to church with you!
Andy will be telling us about Exodus 16, a chapter in which the Hebrews visit the “Divine Complaint Department” to file their grievances officially with Management as we continue our journey of Generation Xodus. You can read more about the act of complaining in the Pastor’s Note for September 16th posted on the CamBlog.
We’ll also have music by the Campbell choirs and the Praise Band and we are planning to welcome several new members to the Campbell family on this joyous day.
And, last but never least, at 10:50 a.m. we’ll be presenting about 20 of our 3rd graders with their new Bibles!
What’s New around Campbell?
You’ve seen the flags near the sidewalk marking the utilities where the new sign will go. We’ve been told that all the parts are now at the sign makers and we should start to see construction start soon. Keep watching!
The Medical Team will soon start having at least one person in each service who is CPR certified and who may have a medical background so that we can respond to medical emergencies. We have a small core group to start and we are looking for some additional volunteers who would not mind taking on this responsibility. There is no special requirement other than CPR certification and a willingness to offer your assistance should it be needed. You can attend your regular worship service and sit with your family and friends. If you are interested contact Peggy Thomas (email@example.com or 881-2018) for more information.
As a family that desires to be in constant prayer for its many members, the Campbell Prayer Team is once again in the process of forming an up-to-date list of both active and retired military service men and women with connections to Campbell UMC. We will be using this list to make prayer cards for the upcoming November 9th / Veterans Day prayer vigil and for future events. However, we are also designing a permanent bulletin board to serve as a visual reminder to pray for our active military. What we need from you is the name, rank and branch, church connection, and, most importantly, picture of the service men and women that we as a family can be praying for. You can submit these items to the Prayer Team by bringing them to the church office during normal hours, or via email to Kory Wilcox at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note that we can make copies of any photos if needed and return the original to you – just make sure to label them appropriately. We would like to have the list as up-to-date as possible by October 12th to give us ample time to prepare for the prayer vigil. As always, thank you, Campbell, for your gifts of prayer.
What’s New on the Website?
We had some problems with the music player and PDF viewer on the CamBlog – these are now fixed thanks to the efforts of the good folks at WordPress.com, our website host. You can now see the PDF flyers directly on the website and hear the music / sermon audio files without having to open another player.
What’s Happening? The Campbell Calendar has a complete listing of all activities.
This coming week is “Picture Week” with photo openings September 22nd – 26th. Pictures will be taken in Room 223. We are asking everyone please to come in through the atrium doors for their picture session.
If you have not yet registered to have your picture taken, you can do so from your home computer – do it now so you don’t forget! Just click to go to the Picture Signup Page. If you have not signed up yet you should get a call from Olan Mills as a reminder to sign up. We’re still looking for about 80 families who were in the last directory but have not yet signed up for this year’s. Don’t forget that you get a FREE copy of the directory and an 8×10 photo just for having your picture taken. You will also have the option of purchasing additional photos if you wish but no purchase is required for the sitting, directory and one photo. So, signup, put on your “picture clothes” and spend a few minutes for a memory!
