Lent, Holy Week, and Easter Sunday are behind us and I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to everyone who worked so hard in preparation, planning, rehearsing, and leading all of the special opportunities of the season. To list them all individually would be impossible, there are so many! Thank you, thank you, thank you – everybody!
Sunday morning I said that Easter is not a culmination, but rather a beginning. That is true in a metaphorical sense, in terms of a new life in the risen Christ. It is also true in a “calendrical” sense, in terms of a season of the church year. (Hey, I just invented a word!)
The Easter Season, which began last Sunday, proceeds for the next 50 days and ends with the celebration of Pentecost, this year on May 31st. It will be a season of special celebrations and wonderful worship services, celebrating the “Love So Amazing” that forms us as God’s children.
April 26th is Confirmation Sunday, celebrated with a single worship service at 10:00 a.m. It will be such a joy to worship together as a community! May 3rd is Discipleship Renewal Sunday, in which we will all have the opportunity to renew our discipleship promises. May 10th will be a day to welcome new members to Campbell United Methodist Church. Several people have recently made a decision to live out their discipleship as members of this congregation. May 17th is Graduate Recognition Sunday, during which we will celebrate those who are completing one chapter of their academic lives and turning to the next.
So the season begins! I personally can’t wait to journey through this season with you all. I can’t wait to meet all of the wonderful people you will invite to worship over these next few weeks. I can’t wait to welcome new members into the congregation. I can’t wait to see how the grace of Christ comes to life during this most amazing season.
And I can’t wait to celebrate the story of God’s “Love So Amazing” each and every week during this Easter Season!
Grace and Peace,
