Yesterday in worship I spoke of Rev. Sam Dixon, the head of UMCOR, who died in the Haiti earthquake. At that time, I mentioned other United Methodists in Haiti who had been injured. I am saddened to learn that another member of that group, Rev. Clinton Rabb, has died.
Additionally, a United Methodist layperson serving on a mission team from Highland Park UMC in Dallas has died of injuries received in the earthquake. Jean Arnwine was a part of a team working in an eye clinic in Petit Goave. The clinic building collapsed during the earthquake.
Our prayers are with family, friends, and colleagues of Sam Dixon, Clinton Rabb, Jean Arnwine, and the many, many others who are grieving today.
There are many places to get news about the response to the Haiti earthquake. One of the places is at www.umc.org, where information specific to United Methodist ministries will be posted.
