Easy SHARE opportunity

10-Fold. 1 Click. Be Counted.

Are you looking for resources to help you make a difference in the world? This October, with a click of your mouse, you can become an advocate for mission! On October 1, 10-Fold returns for a month-long celebration of five exciting projects, each highlighted for a full week.

“One of the joys of my work is to meet people around the world who are engaged in mission,” said Thomas Kemper, who leads the United Methodist General Board of Global Ministries. He continued, “10-Fold gives everyone the opportunity to meet some of these people and interact with them online.”

Encourage friends and church members to visit 10-Fold.org weekly, for a project-focused multimedia experience that includes:

  • videos
  • chats
  • devotions
  • worship resources
  • and more.

Each visitor can trigger a US $1 donation to the week’s project, made by one of 10-Fold’s sponsors simply by clicking on the Be Counted button.

Opportunity to Share …

Calling all painters!  Paul and Susan Kihlmire have been instrumental in a project called Southwest Special Care Homes, which is building its first Christian Family-Type home for adults with developmental disabilities.  They started construction last fall and are ready to paint.  We will be having a work day on March 24th to help with this worthwhile project.  Paul tells me that he will be at the house by 7:30am that morning.  You can either meet us at the house or if there is an interest in carpooling, a group could meet at the church at 8am.  You are free to come and go as needed.  Bring any brushes, rollers, extension poles, paint pans, coffee cans, etc that you may have available.  Paul recommends medium 5/8″ nap roller covers as the walls are textured.  The walls are 9′ tall, so ladders will probably be needed also.

Also please bring a sack lunch and water to drink.  A sign-up sheet and maps to the house will be available in the Hospitality Room on Sunday.  We would like people to sign up and indicate if they want to carpool, so we have an idea how many people we will have coming and if there is a need to meet at the church.

Don’t miss the opportunity to walk on the Share staircase in this service opportunity!  WE NEED YOU!!!

Adopt a Caseworker Request

We have had another request from our adopted Greene County case worker. A single mom is in need of six twin mattresses for six of her seven children. If you have a used, but good condition mattress that you would like to donate, please contact Erin Bryan or the church office. If you would like to donate money to meet this need, please make a check out to Campbell UMC and write “Adopt a Caseworker” in the memo. Thank you so much!

Joplin Tornado Response

For the next week, Campbell UMC will be gathering supplies to put together Emergency Clean-up Buckets and Personal Hygiene Packs. These kits will be gathered together during Annual Conference, June 3-6, and used in response to the Joplin tornado. You may bring items to the church at any time during the week, and leave them in the donation bins in Fellowship Hall. The items included in the kits are listed below.

We will be sharing a special offering this Sunday morning, as well. You may make a donation through the church, and 100% of it will be included in relief efforts, thanks to the power of the United Methodist connection at work.

Here is a link – http://www.moumethodist.org/enewsletterarchives/detail/1322 – to a special message from the Conference Office regarding this disaster. In this message, “individuals and volunteer teams are urged not to self deploy at this time.” I am certain that a group from Campbell will head to Joplin in the near future, but we need to stay out of the way of the professionals who are there working now.

In the meantime, I know that we will be in prayer for our neighbors in Joplin as they struggle through these next very difficult days.

Shalom, Andy B.
